I read a lot of blogs. Since I don't watch television, and my intake of daily news is limited to about an hour of day of radio (I listen to a combination of NPR, Morning Edition and All Thing Considered), I turn to the internet for news and information. Among my current favs are Michael Spencer at iMonk, Steve Scott at From the Pew, and Rocco Palmo at Whispers in the Loggia. An odd mix. But I found a new one yesterday that has me really intriqued: Jason Peters at Front Porch Republic. And the essay he wrote is about gnosticism.
A bright spot. Well, sort of. I have recently been able to exchange correspondence with someone that I find completely fascinating. I have seen a movie about and have even sought out some of the real-life facts about a man that is, in my humble opinion, an excellent example of the works that we learn about in James 2:19 & 20 "19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?"

Some random thoughts on loving people. When friends of mine go on mission trips abroad, I hear stories of meeting tangible needs and loving the locals of that distant land. Offering cups of fresh (bottled) water in places that don't have clean drinking water. Building projects like hospitals, playgrounds, churches. Teaching English in developing nations to help folks in the world economy.
